Wildlife Management Units, known as UMAs, continue to be an important part of sustainable species management in Mexico.
There are currently thousands of registered UMAs in the country dedicated to legal hunting use, habitat conservation and controlled reproduction of different species.
Experts point out that these models allow environmental conservation, rural economic activity and regulated wildlife use to work together through management plans supervised by environmental authorities.
